The Amati 1:8 scale Ferrari-powered Arno XI hydroplane kit was designed without a display engine so that it could be easily converted to functional radio control operation. The boat is so beautiful when completed, however, that most models never touch the water. The real boat was (and still is) powered by a special twin supercharged, 2963cc Ferrari V12 engine. This super-detailed engine transkit finally allows you to display an accurate, all metal engine in or alongside your Arno XI model. Dimensions of the finished engine: 8" long, 4.5" wide, 3.5" high, weight 3 1/2 pounds. This intricate model kit is not for novices, but will reward a patient and careful modeller with the best scale engine model most have ever seen. The kit includes miniature nut drivers, but will also require some drilling, light filing and a gel type CA glue (superglue) to complete. Click the photos below to enlarge. what is a "transkit"? A transkit (short for "transformation kit") is a separate set of parts to add extra details to an existing kit. They are almost always produced by small independent companies (not the maker of the original kit) and usually add an exponentially greater level of detail than the original kit provides.
